"Yesterday's decision complicates matters for the authority building the new West Seattle-to-Ballard monorail line -- although how much is not clear. The Seattle Monorail Project plans to tear down the old monorail line to make way for the new.The designation does not necessarily preclude the old line from being torn down. But the monorail authority will have to negotiate exactly how to preserve that whimsical part of Seattle's history. The same commission would have to agree to let the columns come down."
