Wireless electric vehicle charging built into the street and smart dynamic signal system are among the improvements under consideration in Dallas.

Dallas is looking to upgrade some of its streets with smart technology and pedestrian-friendly design. "[Dallas DOT Director Michael] Rogers’ staff is currently identifying five parts of town where workers will weave smart city technology into street rehab projects. These rehabs — called 'complete streets' — make streets narrower, incorporate crosswalks, and often add dedicated lanes for public transit, so it can take priority in traffic," Dave Moore reports for Dallas Innovates.
Among the improvements mentioned were a smart signal system that would change traffic lights dynamically with traffic patterns and electric vehicle charging built into the road. Unlike the Swedish vehicle-charging road, these plans call for vehicles to charge wirelessly. Also, unlike the Swedish roads, these plans are still in the early phases rather than in process.
