Predictions of traffic fridlock in Chicago are bad, but not as bad as expected.

"Although commuting times in the Chicago region are growing as moreworkers travel longer distances to their jobs, today's trafficcongestion isn't nearly as severe as experts once expected. Despitecongested roads, the doomsday predictions of traffic gridlock haven'tmaterialized because the growth rate in commuters is slowing, accordingto a new study of commuting patterns in the six-county area."
