Transit officials in San Francisco are considering a plan to allow transit riders to board through all doors of buses in an attempt to cut delays.
"Muni has found that buses on the 1-California, 38-Geary, 14-Mission, 30-Stockton and other heavily used lines spend about 20 percent of their running time at bus stops.
Under current rules, bus riders only are allowed to board through the front door, near the driver. Allowing back-door boarding as well could speed things up."
The idea is one of many proposed to make up a three-year plan to improve transit efficiency in the city.
