Queens Boulevard from Roosevelt Avenue to 73rd Street got a new look in 2015, but the New York Department of Transportation is planning to take the street redesign even further.

The New York Department of Transportation is gearing up for the next phase of a major redesign of Queens Boulevard in Woodside, a neighborhood in Queens.
A low-cost version of the street redesign was already installed in 2015, reports David Meyer, increasing cycling by 141 percent and reducing pedestrian injuries by 63 percent.
Now it's time to "cast [the] redesign of Queens Boulevard in concrete," according to Meyer, and the Q60 bus stands to benefit the most.
With wider, more accessible pedestrian zones, the medians will be able to serve as bus stops, and the plan is to shift the Q60 from the Queens Boulevard service roads to the central roadway. Buses will no longer be traveling in the same lanes where drivers are parallel parking. In effect, bus riders will be in the express lanes.
