Changes at the Transit Agency Formerly Known as the Utah Transit Authority

Among other substantive reforms, Senate Bill 136 changes the name and branding of the Utah Transit Authority.

"State lawmakers voted to change the name of the Utah Transit Authority (UTA) to Transit District of Utah," reports John Franchi.

The approval of Senate Bill will move forward with the name change as well as a complete rebranding of UTA buses and trains at am estimated cost of $50 million.

As for the more substantive, less cosmetic, changes enabled by the bill, the agency will also gain $87 million to fund bus and train service improvements. That funding will be available at the county level, when working with the state.
