The Boston Planning & Development Agency will hire consultants to craft a vision for its rapidly changing downtown.

"The Boston Planning & Development Agency this week began the process of designing a master plan for the city’s commercial — and increasingly residential — core," reports Tim Logan.
BPDA plans to spend two years and $600,000 to draft the new zoning rules for a booming corner of the city that has recently seen an influx of residential amid the traditionally commercial and offices uses. BPDA will hire a consultant to design the plan.
Logan provides additional detail about the development context the plan will be expected to address, as well as some of the expected political challenges the plan when encounter along the way.
