PBS examines the built environment through its series "10 That Changed America." The latest episode will look at the "10 Streets That Changed America."
Patrick Sisson shares the word about a new PBS show called 10 Streets That Changed America. The show uses "famous streets and roadways as a jumping off point to explore history," according to Sisson, expanding on the similar formula of 10 Homes That Changes America.
The show premiers tomorrow, July 10, and is hosted by Geoffrey Baer. According to Sisson, the show "chronicles the country’s love affair with the open road, from Colonial mail routes to car-centric streets in California." The show will also tackle stories about how "today’s planners are, in many ways, coming full circle in their efforts to return many of the country’s great roads to walkable, pedestrian thoroughfares." Later episodes of the 10 That Changed America series will examine monuments and modern marvels.
Sisson also takes a look at the streets highlighted by the show.
