Rochester, New York is launching the new Neighbors for Neighbors program.
Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren recently announced the Neighbors for Neighbors program, which "allows residents to buy a vacant home, receive a subsidy to fix it up, then rent it at an affordable rate," reports WHEC.
"Anyone purchasing homes through the Neighbors for Neighbors program must agree to rent them to families who make less than 80-percent of the average median income," according to the article. "Renters will not pay more than 30-percent of their income in rent."
The article includes an (autoplaying) television report that frames the new policy as way to convert the city's "zombie homes."
