The scalability of vehicle-to-vehicle Internet technology hangs in the balance of a proposed rulemaking under consideration at the Federal Communication Commission.

"The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has voted to advance a proposed rulemaking that would reduce by 40% the amount of broadband set aside for vehicle-related communications and open it up instead to the general public," reports John Gallagher.
Gallagher describes the details of the proposed rule, and also calls on the idea's supporters and detractors for insight into the anticipated consequences of changes to the broadband equation.
The Intelligent Transportation Society of America and the American Trucking Associations (ATA) express concern about the potential that pedestrian and traffic safety could suffer as a result.
FCC officials are quoted in the article making the case for a change.
