Successor to Rockefeller's 100 Resilient Cities Formed

"Members of the former 100 Resilient Cities (100RC) program have officially reunited under a new network, the Global Resilient Cities Network (GRCN)," reports Kristin Musulin.

The new Global Resilient Cities Network (GRCN) was announced at the 10th World Urban Forum, underway this week in Abu Dhabi.

Musulin quotes GRCN Managing Director Eugene Zapata for more information on how the new organization's operations will differ from its predecessors.  

…The network will center on collaboration, regionally-led strategies and a focus on impact, and support will no longer be financially driven.

"The 100RC program had a one-size-fits-all approach to urban resilience," Zapata said. "Now we’re going to be more attentive to the differences between, say, a city in a developing world and a city in Northern Europe."

As noted by Musulin, GRCN is not the first organization to rise from the ashes of 100RC. In January 2020, former 100RC cities formed a nonprofit consultant called the Resilient Cities Catalyst. The Rockefeller Foundation announced its own successor to the 100RC program, the Adrienne Arsht-Rockefeller Foundation Resilience Center, earlier in 2019
