Jane Ann Morrison reports from a recent Las Vegas city retreat, which gave a collection of voices the chance to lay out an agenda for the future of Las Vegas.
A regional approach to transportation was among the most commonly mentioned proposals. Tina Quigley, general manager of the Regional Transportation Commission told the gathering “If we want to grow, we have to invest in two things. One is education, two is transportation.”
Bruce Katz of the Brookings Institution also attended the meeting, telling the gathering that Orlando, Florida, was the model for Las Vegas to emulate as a “mentor city”—especially Orlando’s light rail system.
