Tampa Plans to Update Riverfront Park

Tampa has hired Denver-based Civitas to lead the planning effort in the sorely-needed renovation of Julian B. Lane Riverfront Park. Mayor Bob Buckhorn supports the plan to renovate the 23-acre waterfront park.

According to an article by Mitch Perry, Civitas has already met with many stakeholders to begin collecting data on the improvement of Julian B. Lane Riverfront Park as well as recently holding the first public hearing on the proposed renovation.  

So far, stakeholders hope to increase security in the park without creating a heavy-handed police presence, increase visibility and access for families in park-poor West Tampa, and, possibly, to provide a beach setting along the river.
