The winners of a design competition to overhaul a popular tourist destination in Toronto have been announced. Now comes the hard part.
"Waterfront Toronto announced the winning design for a new and improved Jack Layton Ferry Terminal that aims to create a 'great green living room' at the edge of Lake Ontario," according to an article by Natalie Alcoba.
Alcoba goes on to highlight five of the important details about the proposed makeover for the second-most-visited in the city.
The winning design, by KPMB Architects (Toronto), West 8 (Rotterdam), and Greenberg Consultants (Toronto), "imagined fusing a new ferry terminal and a revamped Harbour Square Park into a 'special new place' called Harbour Landing," writes Alcoba.
The next step for the design proposal will be approval by the board and the city approval. Following a approval a master planning process will still be required. The article includes additional insights into the funding and political considerations that will ensure the project's completion.
