Pittsburgh Planning Two Big New Bike Lane Projects

A city already known for its livability is ready to add new bike lanes in high profile locations.

"Pittsburgh City Council on Wednesday authorized spending nearly $837,000 on two bike-lane projects, including a Downtown connection between Grant Street near the Monongahela River and Point State Park," reports Adam Smeltz. "The other will extend existing North Side lanes on East Street from Suffolk Street about a mile north to Mount Pleasant Road, near Interstate 279."

The projects have $600,000 in federal funding, along with $200,000 from the city. The article includes commentary on the city's goals for the projects from City Councilmember Natalia Rudiak and Eric Boerer, advocacy director for Bike Pittsburgh.
