Online mapping platforms are continuing to find new and improved ways to represent the inequities of American society.
"The National Equity Atlas, developed by PolicyLink and the University of Southern California’s Program for Environmental and Regional Equity (PERE), might be the best and most comprehensive graphic call for economic equality available today," according to Laura Bliss.
Bliss describes the National Equity Atlas as a culmination of over a century of efforts by mapmakers "to plot disparities across all sorts of measures—jobs and school quality, environmental health, and transportation access, for example—to advocate for policy change."
Bliss describes more about how continued improvements are helping the National Equity Atlas achieves its goals—providing a tutorial of the kind of insights available with the tool along the way.
